Last year Robertson Ranch, started the Central Oregon Bullddogging Shootout! This is the ranch where I rode and competed for 2 years and now after my concussion work with the young horses and ride a little now and then.
A jackpot is held here at the ranch the day before Sisters, Oregon Rodeo's slack. (For anyone who doesn't know, a jackpot is where all the contestants pay entry fees. They participate in one or more rounds and try to win the "jackpot" and walk away with a good sized cash prize).
Last year was a great success for the first attempt at the jackpot! They ended up with 24 contestants, sponsorships from: Robertson Ranch, Pendleton Whiskey, Prineville Territory, Saddle -Up, and few individuals also.They had a lot of people donate their time and services too, a timer, an announcer with music, a judge, countless other services, and our great families pitching in where ever else we needed help! They even held a large bbq for the contestants and their families, after all the bulldogging wrapped up.
They were able, with entry fees and added money, to pay out 4,200.00!
2 time World Champion, Luke Branquino was the big 2009 winner, walking away with over $1,500.00, and some other prizes!

They have been well under way with the planning for the 2010 Central Oregon Bulldogging Shootout! They have brought in a lot of new sponsors, some pretty big! This year they are anticipating the jackpot to be even BIGGER AND BETTER than 2009!
So here is to the 2010 Central Oregon Bulldogging Shootout!! Hope all goes well, and we all have a great time!!
