Well, we dropped the chicken idea. I found that a friend I ride with has a mom that has chickens and she always has way too many eggs. I have agreed to supply her with cartons and she will fill them up with eggs. How could I pass up such a great deal? The coop we were constructing will now be a shelter for the rototiller and mower.
Tom works his last weekend in security for Brasada Ranch this weekend. He will be returning to his seasonal job as golf starter at Pronghorn in a few weeks. He will be playing in one of Pronghorn's Polar Bear Classic golf tournaments next week. Hope that one of our sunny days falls at that time. We have had several days up in the 50s recently, that is scattered between the chilly days in the 30s. It still freezes every night but we have gotten used to that.
Sharon continues to ride 4 days a week at Fran's ranch. She has been continuing to learn cow cutting on Acey, a well trained, 21 year old horse that still has way too much "go" some days. In human years she is in her 70s! Last week Sharon did her first cutting practice on the automatic cow with Billy. Fran has been training him for about a month and a half. That was really a great moment for her to see him coming along in his training and see that she has learned a lot too.
Last we tilled up about a half acre in the areas that are bare ground around the house and that get quite dusty in the summer. We then planted a range restore dry land grass mix( that means it will grow and tolerate the summer without irrigation). The spring rains should make it get a good start.
