We had a BBQ picnic with several of our friends on our deck on 4th of July weekend. Tom has finished covering the top of it with sunscreen fabric and it is now cool and shady. Many evenings the two of us will take dinner out there and eat in the shade. We have needed the shade as it has been in the 90+ temps for the last week. It is to be 98 to 100 on Wednesday. The hay crop is coming along well and first cutting was the last two weeks. If the weather continues as it has been many farmers will get three cuttings this year. With the prices they are paying for fuel and fertilizer that will be a real help to them economically.
Tom's 89 year old mother, Mary, came to spend the holiday weekend with us. She got to see her great granddaughters, Emma and Sara several times. We took her back to Portland on Sunday and also visited Tom's sister and husband, Grace and Walt while we were there.
On our way back to Central Oregon we stopped at Mount Hood Village RV Park and visited with Frank and Carol Bowman. The hours of this workamper experience are really great. Carol said that she works with kids recreation for 4 days and then is off for three days every week. They plan on Thursday, work Friday late afternoon and then Saturday and Sunday. They do hikes, crafts, nature activities, etc. She has several other people helping so it is no great burden for any one person. She said that she is really enjoying it.
As for Tom and I, he is playing more golf and I am riding more horses.
Sounds like you are having fun and I am glad to hear that. Thanks for the news on Carol. I sent her a quick note. Give Tom a big squeeze for me. I sure miss seeing you two!
