Another view from the front door

Our home is located between two cow pastures and this is the view from the front door this morning. Cow-calf operations are one of the chief agricultural pursuits here. Yes, that juicy steak that you order this weekend has to start somewhere and it is not picked off of a tree in a steak orchard. Unfortunately these cows are not ours, or perhaps fortunately as we don't have to take care of them. We just get to enjoy watching them and their calves as the little one's grow. As they get older and less cute, looking more like ordinary cows, they are sent off to cattle ranches to grow some more and then be sent of to their final destination on your plate.
We enjoy listening to them call to their babies and laugh when the bulls get very vocal about letting the rancher know that it is time to let him out to the heifers. Two of them pushed through our fence last summer and spent the night in our small pasture. Don't know what they thought they would find over here. It must have been just a part of the boy's wild night on the town.
