We are starting to get settled in and getting to know new friends.
Every Monday night is a music evening with anyone from the park who wants to participating. It was qite a nice time of singing carols and a few funny Christmas themed readings.
Yesterday we found the local grocery store, the local WalMart, bank, gas station, and post office. Tuesday nights are Bingo nights and Tom won $19 on the first game. Unfortunately the session was ended about half way through when a lady at the table behind us passed out. Two of us retired nurses were right there and had four strong guys lift her onto the table for us. At first we had trouble finding a pulse and she was very cold, clammy, and unresponsive. After she roused and threw up she began talking but was very weak. The paramedics were called as she was out and unresponsive for about 30 seconds to a minute. She has had three strokes before and is on a lot of medications so they took her to the hospital for eveluation. Hope that is not too much information for you non medical types.
Today I started getting with the program of trying to keep in shape while down here. If I go back out of shape and having gained a few pounds my horse trainer and riding coach, Fran, will really make me pay for it. That is one consequence I do not want to face. So, while the laundry was being done, I walked all of the streets in the park for 30 minutes. This afternoon I plan to be in my first water aerobics class at the pool.
Tonight is a caroling party with a beef stew dinner.
You know you are getting old when A) you go to Bingo. B) Someone has a heart attack while you are there.
